Tonight I got home from work and finished off a letter of recommendation for one of my amazing youth. This teen has become an inspiration to me in many ways, but especially by caring about others and the environment. She not only addresses the problem but also talks about solutions. To her, there is no doubt that we can change the world. That is an admirable quality that I hope she holds onto and impacts others to grasp as well.
After delivering the letter, I came home to relax. Of course, that means checking in with facebook. I was surprised to see an encouraging comment on my the wall of one of my youth. It wasn't because the youth didn't deserve it, but rather the person commenting surprised me. You see, yesterday, she lost her husband of many years. I know that she is having a rough time losing someone she has loved dearly for so long. I went to her facebook page to check in and see how she was doing. There were many messages of condolences. The couple has been very active in church and well loved by many. So, that didn't surprise me. But, I saw she had written 3 facebook messages and they were all encouraging comments to teens from the church. What an awesome person! Even in her saddest times, she is sending out her love and encouragement to others- to the youth. She is someone I admire and someone I am grateful for. She is the first person most people meet when they visit the church because she makes a point to meet them. (She reminds me of my grandma because she was the exact same way.) So, I'm pretty sure she was the first person I met when I visited. And, for that, I'm grateful to her.
Today, two people reminded me of the way we all should be living. So, where was God today? He's working through these two people who have been a blessing to so many. And, I know that God is with the family who has lost someone very special. He will be missed, but we are all assured of where he is right now and that's a comfort.
Blessings,
Jennifer
