This morning, I hate to admit that I was a little nervous. I started out the day with about 15 adopters for the 30 Hour famine participants. The adopters are people not doing the famine that agree to pray for someone who is doing the famine. They also write 3 letters of encouragement that the famine participant gets during the famine. They pay $25, but it's not really about the money. So, even if someone isn't able to pay, the most important thing is to have every famine participant adopted and getting letters of encouragement and prayer.
So, when I started out today with 15 out of the 40 adopted, I was afraid I was going to be writing a lot of letters. As I write this, I have 4 extra adopters! That means I have people writing letters to everyone who is participating and I even have people writing to the "surprise" participants- friends of participants who don't tell me ahead of time that they are coming.
I should know that every year it comes down to the last minute but it always works out. But, every year it stresses me. All I can say is I'm glad it worked out and it feels good to know that even when I am unsure, God is still taking care of things.
“For the word of the LORD is upright, And all His work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the loving kindness of the LORD.” Psalm 33:4-5
Blessings,
Jennifer
