Tonight after work, I walked a few blocks down the street with some of my youth. I had no idea what to expect as I walked, but as I got closer, I saw a big crowd of people- young and old. A couple weeks ago, there was a tragic accident. A woman died and 2 young girls were seriously injured. 1 is recovering well and the other is fighting for her life. Prayers and positive attitudes seem to be working against what the medical people predicted. She is slowly changing their minds as she has shown signs of recovering.
So, tonight, there was a candlelight vigil for the family, prayers for the girls, and a time to hear messages from the family. It was packed! A local musician played, the news was there, which was awesome that they were anxious to report something positive, and people gathered together to pray and share their faith. Tragedies are never good, but seeing a community come together to pray is a beautiful thing.
Tonight wasn't about politics or blaming anyone or being angry. It was about a family and it was about the hope they have, the hope they said they see every day in the little strides that are made. It was a reminder to everyone to appreciate the little things, appreciate family and friends, and hug everyone a little tighter.
So, where was God today? He was listening to all of the prayers, comforting those who needed comforting by putting people in their path tonight as they prayed and shared together. He was listening to all of the prayers, giving hope to those who need it, not only for this but in their own lives because seeing hope in tragedy gives hope to all who see it.
Blessings,
Jennifer
