Do no harm. Do all the good that you can. Stay in love with God. These are John Wesley's 3 rules. Today ended the last of a 3 part series on these 3 rules. I have enjoyed all three and feel strongly about the importance of them all. Of the three, I think the third is the hardest to decipher. The first two seem pretty basic. But, what does it mean to stay in love with God?
Today, something the pastor said struck me. He shared a beautiful story of camping with his family and seeing a shooting star with one of his son's. The other son came out and he felt bad that his other son hadn't gotten to see a shooting star. Just then, another shooting star went across the sky, then many more. "That one was for you", he said to his son after the second shooting star of the evening. To them, it was a gift from God, the beauty of the stars, the miracle of seeing so many, and the experience they'll never forget. Then, the pastor said staying in love with God means expecting to see His love for us every day.
When I started this blog last October, that's what I decided to do. It has enhanced my spiritual journey immensely. Looking for God in everyday life, in the moments and people that surround us, has become a constant uplifting focus. It might be easier to see Him in the big things. It might be easier to question Him in the rough times. But, if you look for Him and the ways He shows His love for you daily, you will find it. I encourage you to join me in finding a way to consciously look for and document your journey. Maybe you like to write. maybe you have a friend you'd like to share it with. But, find a way to see it and say it. It will help your focus throughout the day.
So, where was God today? He was sending a message that He loves me, that He loves us all. And, we need to show we love Him by accepting His love.
Blessings,
Jennifer
