Things I learned while in Guatemala or was reminded of from the last trip... Spending a week there again gave me a rejuvenating time to once again experience God in a totally different way and experience life in a totally different way. This is only a short list that I plan to add to as I think about my week. But, here are my initial thoughts.
1) Take time to stop and enjoy things.
2) Look around and realize the beauty that God has created- it's all around us and we don't even notice it.
3) We don't need as much as we think we do. And, when we have less we are less and aren't concerned about having more, we are much happier.
4) I can take a semi- cold shower and survive.
5) Working together and having fun is a great combination and is possible when the right people are put together.
6) Saying hello or good morning to everyone we meet makes us smile more.
7) No matter what frustrates us, just smile through it! :)
8) Taking time in the evening to read scripture, talk, and share where God was throughout the day is an awesome way to spend an evening.
9) Everything is better when we can laugh about it.
10) Throwing stucco on a ceiling is an art.
11) I am not artistic.
12) Listening with an open mind and an objective to learn is more important than talking with an objective to get your point across.
13) We have a lot to learn from the example of family and their respect for each other in Guatemala.
14) People in Guatemala have cell phones but you don't often see them on their phones because they are more focused on the people they are with.
15) I am very blessed by the people I have in my life.
16) If we were all more considerate when driving, it would be a whole different world.
17) A community that works together to help each other and build each other up is a happy place to be.
18) Hugs and laughter from children can melt anyone's heart.
19) Children can teach us a lot about love and acceptance.
20) Once you go to Guatemala, you always want to go back.
Blessings,
Jennifer
